What are early signs that my thigh pain is statin-related myopathy?
#1
I've been prescribed a new statin and the information sheet lists possible muscle pain as a side effect. I'm trying to understand if the mild ache I've felt in my thighs this week is just normal post-exercise soreness or the beginning of a statin-related myopathy, and how to tell the difference for sure.

I started a new statin not long ago and had a similar thigh ache. At first it felt like normal post workout soreness, especially after stairs or a longer run. It would ease with a day of rest and gentle stretching, then come back after the next run.

I kept a simple diary for a week with notes on pain from 1 to 3 and which activities made it worse and whether it bothered me more after activity or while resting Did you notice a pattern like that?

If the pain is accompanied by weakness, trouble climbing stairs, or dark urine I would call the clinic right away. But mild lingering ache that stays in the same leg and eases with rest could just be ordinary soreness.

One day I found the ache came after a long walk on uneven pavement so I wondered if it was overuse or something tucked in nerves. I tried shorter steadier walks and watched if the pain changed.
