What can i do to keep lace shawl edging sharp after wet blocking?
#1
I’ve been trying to get the hang of wet blocking my finished lace shawl, but I just can’t seem to get the points on the edging to stay sharp after I unpin it. They always relax and look a bit rounded, even though I’m using blocking wires and T-pins on a proper mat.

Yeah I’ve been there. It looks sharp with pins in, then after unpinning the points soften and round a bit as it dries.

I stuck with it and tried reblocking after it dried, hoping the points would reset. They came back a touch crisper but never quite as clean as during blocking.

Could be the yarn or the pattern fighting gravity more than the pins. Humidity, fiber elasticity, or even how evenly damp it is seems to matter, right?

Sometimes I drifted off and thought maybe a stray pin got pulled or the mat surface nudged a corner. Then I’d worry I overblocked in the wrong direction and it all went soft again.
