What can i do to stop lurking and participate more in group chats?

I’ve noticed that when I’m in a group chat with friends, I almost never speak up, even though I have plenty to say one-on-one. It feels like the conversation moves too fast and my thoughts aren’t polished enough, so I just lurk. Does anyone else get stuck in that silent observer role online?

Yeah I get that. In group chats I often hover on the edge, thinking my point sounds clumsy once the thread moves on. It feels like I’m sprinting to type before the moment passes, and I end up quiet a lot.

I tried writing a tiny line when I had something to say, like one sentence and a gif, just to get a foot in. It helped a bit, but often the convo moved faster than my reply and I’d vanish again. I even kept a rough count for a week and I spoke in only a few threads.

Maybe the issue isn’t me being quiet. Maybe the chat vibe is just loud, and I’m misreading what’s welcome. Is the real problem the speed, or the tone, or something else?

I’ve also found myself drifting off topic and bringing something up later, like I remembered a side detail hours after the last message. It’s awkward, but it happens and I keep doing it anyway.
