What can I do to stop my phone from heating on a wireless charging pad in car?

I just got a new car with a wireless charging pad, but my phone gets uncomfortably hot every time I use it. It charges fine, but the heat makes me worried about long-term battery damage. Has anyone else dealt with this, and did you find a setting or a particular phone case that helped?

Yep, mine cooked the first few times too. I pulled off a bulky case and turned off fast charging on the phone. The wireless pad still gets warm, but it stopped scalding hot after about 10 minutes. It’s tolerable for short drives, and I’ve stopped panicking about long trips.

Do you have a thick or metal case on? I found a slim silicone one made a bigger difference than I expected.

I tried a different pad in the same car and the heat was noticeably lower when the pad was running at a lower wattage.

I worried about the long run, so I quit relying on the wireless pad for road trips and kept a wired charger as a backup just in case.
