What caused the stilted dialogue in this new show?

I just watched a new show and the dialogue in a few scenes felt noticeably stilted and unnatural, like the actors were struggling with the rhythm of it. It made me wonder if the script was heavily revised right before shooting, or if that's just how it came across in the final edit.

Yeah I felt that too. Sometimes the tempo just lands wrong and the lines come out stiff, like the dialogue was trimmed too aggressively in editing or the pace was rushed on set.

I’ve seen a few shows where big rewrites happen late in the process and the performances don’t quite line up with the final script.

One time a scene read fine on the page but ADR and looping poked at the rhythm later, and it sounded like the actors were chasing the beat rather than living it.

Maybe the writers tightened a joke or cut a breath somewhere and the beats never hit the right place, which leaves the delivery feeling off.

Do you think the real issue is the writing or the post production mix that makes it feel stilted?
