What causes morning jaw stiffness and clicking?
#1
For the last few weeks, I’ve been waking up with a really stiff and sore jaw, and I can hear a faint clicking sound when I open my mouth wide to eat. It’s not a constant pain, but it’s starting to worry me because it happens every morning. Has anyone else experienced this kind of persistent morning jaw discomfort?

I’ve had mornings like that too. stiffness plus a tiny click in my jaw when I opened wide. It would feel better after I slept on my back and tried not to grind my teeth at night, but it came back a few weeks later.

Could this be dental grinding at night or a strain from how you sleep?

I tried a warm compress and gentle mouth-stretches before bed, and kept a simple log of when the stiffness showed up and how long it lasted. It cooled down after a few days, but then returned if I went back to chewing tough foods late in the day.

I also spun in circles about sinus stuff because mornings can feel off, but the pattern pointed to nocturnal activity like grinding. If it sticks around, a quick check with a dentist might help figure out if it’s mechanical or just stiffness.
