What causes the DirectX GetDeviceRemovedReason error and freezes in raids?
#1
I just got the "DirectX function GetDeviceRemovedReason" error and my game completely froze. I was in the middle of a raid and everything just locked up, forcing a hard reboot. I'm not sure if this is a driver issue or something wrong with the game itself after the latest patch.

That error usually means the GPU driver hiccuped and Windows couldn't keep the device alive, so the game froze.

I updated the GPU driver and set the power plan to high performance, also tried turning off v-sync to see if that helps; sometimes it lets things run for a bit after that.

Sometimes I just lower texture quality and cap the framerate during raids to reduce GPU pressure; it buys you time, but it doesn't fix the root.

Do you have any crash dumps or Windows event logs from the time it happened? I found those helped me tell if it was the patch or the driver.
