What could cause a loud squeak in the front end when turning slowly?

My 2016 Civic has started making a loud, rhythmic squeaking noise that seems to come from the front end, but only when I'm turning the steering wheel at low speeds, like in a parking lot. It goes away once I'm driving straight. I'm worried something in the steering or suspension is wearing out, but I can't pinpoint it.

I had a similar loud squeak in a Civic a few years back. It happened when I turned slowly in a parking lot and vanished as soon as the wheel returned straight. It ended up being the front sway bar links creaking as the suspension moved. Replacing them took care of it.

On that Civic the power steering is electric so this kind of noise is unlikely to come from a belt. My money would be on a worn joint like an inner tie rod or a strut mount. If you can have someone gently turn the wheel while you listen at the front you might feel for any looseness.

I actually did a quick check by lifting the car and bouncing the front end a bit then turning the wheel a few times. The squeak was louder on one side which made me think bushings or a link not the brakes.

Are you sure it is not brakes like a sticking caliper?
