What could cause a weak urine stream: aging or enlarged prostate?
#1
I’ve been noticing a weaker stream for a few months now, and it’s starting to worry me. It feels like I really have to strain sometimes to get going, and it never used to be like this. Is this just a normal part of getting older, or could it be a sign of something like an enlarged prostate?

That weaker stream isn’t automatically normal aging. For some men it can be an enlarged prostate, which can make you have to push and the flow tapers off. It’s worth taking seriously instead of hoping it goes away.

I tried to wait and see, but after a few months I started a simple log: when I drank, roughly how long it took to start the stream, and how strong it felt. It helped me talk to the clinician.

Could it be something else entirely, like a medicine side effect or dehydration, or maybe just stress?

I had a similar worry and it felt like I was overthinking it. I went to the clinic, they did a basic exam and asked about symptoms, and they said early signs can be vague. Still not sure what’s going on.
