What could cause a weaker urine stream and incomplete bladder emptying in men?
#1
I’ve been noticing a weaker stream for a few months now, and it’s starting to worry me. It takes longer to empty my bladder, and sometimes I feel like I’m not fully done. I’m in my late fifties and otherwise healthy, but this change is hard to ignore.

I’ve had something similar, over a few months really. The stream felt weaker and it took longer to empty. I finally booked a visit with my GP. They did a urine test, a basic exam, and asked about meds, hydration, and caffeine. They mentioned an ultrasound or a referral to a urologist if things didn’t improve. It wasn’t dramatic, but it was enough to push me to check it out.

Don’t wait it out. If you’re in your fifties and it’s changing, that’s a signal. A quick check is worth it, and they’ll tell you what to watch. If you see blood in the urine or feel unable to urinate, seek care sooner.

Could it be just dehydration or too much caffeine? It’s easy to blame aging, but something simple might be at fault.

One night I woke up several times because it kept me up, then I realized I’d been avoiding water during the day. Not sure if related, but I did cut back on late coffee and that helped a bit. Still not perfect, but I kept the visit scheduled.
