What could cause stubborn elbow rough skin that won't smooth out?
#1
I’ve been dealing with these persistent, rough patches of skin on my elbows for months now, and my regular moisturizer just isn’t making a dent. It’s not exactly itchy, but the texture is really bothering me, and I’m starting to wonder if this is something more than just dry skin. Has anyone else had a similar experience with stubborn roughness that just won’t smooth out?

I know that feeling. I had a stubborn elbow patch that stayed rough for months. I tried a thick night ointment and kept the area moisturized, and it did soften a bit after a few weeks but it never fully disappeared.

A friend of mine tried gentle exfoliation once a week with a mild acid and then sealed it with a heavy cream. It helped the surface feel smoother for a while, but the patch kept coming back in the colder months.

Maybe it’s not just dry skin. It could be a different skin texture issue that behaves the same way, you know the type that doesn’t listen to regular moisturizers.

Have you considered seeing a dermatologist to check if there’s more to it?
