What do you think about the space horror trailer's atmosphere vs threat?

I just watched the new trailer for that space horror movie, and I'm genuinely torn. The atmosphere looks incredible, but the quick cuts make the actual threat seem really vague. I can't tell if that's a deliberate choice to build mystery or if they're just hiding a weak monster design.

I felt the same watching it twice. The atmosphere lands—the dim glow, the creak of the hull, the emptiness outside. The quick cuts pull you in and then yank you out, and the threat stays off screen just enough to keep you guessing. It sure feels like they’re leaning into mystery rather than showing a monster.

I keep looping back to the idea that the cuts might be hiding a lame design. You catch a glimpse—the shadow, a fleeting silhouette—and then it’s gone. Trailer math says the real thing could be bigger, but I’ll believe the reveal when I see it in full.

Probably they’re trying to build mood first. In my kid-in-my-room experience, trailers hype the fear with suggestion and silence, and the actual thing often lands weakly on screen. Could be intentional, could be luck, not sure.

Do you think maybe the real problem isn’t the cuts but our expectations of space horror being loud and obvious?
