What does a bicornuate uterus mean for pregnancy outcomes?
#1
I’ve been told I might have a bicornuate uterus after my last ultrasound, and I’m trying to understand what that really means for my chances of carrying a pregnancy to term. My doctor mentioned the shape could increase the risk of preterm labor, but I’m feeling a bit lost on what to expect or if there are specific things I should be monitoring.

I got told I might have a bicornuate uterus after a scan and it felt scary at first. In my experience the doctor said many people carry to term but there is a bigger chance of early labor or growth issues. I was offered more frequent checks and a plan for delivery but I ended up with a normal term pregnancy. The most useful thing for me was staying in touch with the care team and asking what signs to watch for such as new cramps or vaginal bleeding. I kept a simple notes list and it helped me not catastrophize.

My sister had a bicornuate uterus and she did not feel sick most of the time. She worried about preterm birth but she made it to thirty eight weeks and had a normal delivery. She did not do anything dramatic just took it easy some days and followed what her doctor suggested which was rest and monitoring. It was not a big drama for her.

I am trying to listen to what I can control and not turn every ache into a doom story. I am not sure if the shape is the real problem or if there are other factors at play. One moment I felt unsure after the scan and thought I should redo everything now and I did not see a clear path yet.

Do you know how your doctor explained the level of risk in your case and what plan they suggested?
