What does a retroverted uterus mean for sex and pelvic pressure?
#1
I’ve been told I have a retroverted uterus after my last pelvic exam. My doctor said it’s just a normal anatomical variation, but I’m still a bit confused because I sometimes feel a sharp, deep pressure during intercourse that I don’t remember having before. Has anyone else with this same situation experienced something similar?

I’ve been told mine is a normal variation too, and I’ve noticed a sharp pressure sometimes when things go deep. I switched to slower buildup and lighter penetration, and used more lube; it helped a few times, but not always.

I wonder if it’s simply the angle of contact. When you’re tilted differently, something seems to press in a new spot and it hurts.

I asked my clinician about it and they mentioned pelvic floor muscles can change sensation. I tried a few sessions; didn’t fix everything, but I learned some breathing and pacing helped in the moment.

Do you think the issue is the position or could there be another cause?

I’ve paused a few times mid session to check in with myself; if the pressure spike lasts, I stop and reassess rather than pushing through.

A tip I half-heartedly tried was warm compresses before; not sure it did much, but it felt soothing in the moment.

Sometimes I drift and think maybe I’m overthinking, but the sensation is real and scary; we keep going but it’s frustrating.
