What does a retroverted uterus mean for sex pain in certain positions?
#1
I’ve been told I have a retroverted uterus after my last pelvic exam. My doctor said it’s just a normal anatomical variation, but I’m still a bit confused because I sometimes feel a sharp, deep pain during intercourse in certain positions. Has anyone else with this same uterine positioning experienced something similar?

You’re not alone. I have a retroverted uterus too, and I notice certain positions make it feel deeper and sharper, like it’s tugging at something inside. It would come and go with my cycle and seemed worse around ovulation. I changed to shallower angles and avoided deep thrusts for a while. I kept a simple diary of when it hurt and which position I was in to look for patterns. It hasn’t been a constant problem, but it was scary until I could name what I felt.

From my side the pain felt more like pelvic floor tension than the anatomy. Slower moves, more foreplay, and a warm compress afterward helped a bit. Not a cure, and not guaranteed, but it changed how it felt in the moment.

I keep wondering if maybe it’s something else entirely like a muscle snag or a minor infection that shows up with certain movements. Do you notice it with other activities, or only during sex?

I guess I’m just kind of rushed and unsure here. The doctor said it’s normal, but the sharpness during some positions still wigs me out. I did a couple of sessions trying different positions and stopped when it started to feel off, so I didn’t push it further.
