What does the ending of The Last Stand of the Saltborne really mean?
#1
I just finished The Last Stand of the Saltborne and I’m completely stuck on its meaning. The final choice I made seemed to dissolve the entire world into light, and the credits just rolled with no explanation. I can’t tell if I achieved a true ending or if I somehow failed the game’s central, unspoken puzzle.

That ending hit me too; the Saltborne world dissolving into light and then nothing but credits felt like it meant something personal, not a neat bow.

I restarted once and tried the other branch for a bit, watching the visuals and listening for any log message or hidden line. I paused to inspect the environment for tiny glyphs or patterns, but nothing clearly jumped out.

Do you think the problem is that you’re asking what happened instead of what the ending asks of you?

I was folding laundry while the credits rolled and my mind wandered to how small, ordinary moments can echo grand endings. Maybe the point is just the feeling of closure—or the lack of it—and we’re supposed to bring our own meaning to it, or not. I’m not sure.
