What does the final shot mean, heaven or a metaphor?
#1
I just finished watching the movie and I’m still stuck on the final shot of the protagonist walking into the light. Was that meant to be him literally ascending to heaven, or was it a more metaphorical suggestion that he’d finally found peace within himself? The ambiguity is driving me a bit crazy because both readings seem valid.

I took it as metaphor rather than a literal trip. The light felt like a moment of inner release, a peace that comes from choosing to let go, not a destination.

I kept thinking maybe it’s literal, like a heaven thing, but the movie usually stays grounded in consequences, so a sudden ascent would feel off.

Could it be you’re taking the ending too literally; maybe the real problem is something earlier in the arc that makes the final shot land oddly?

I rewound the last scene twice and watched the actor’s breath and the glow in the frame; it read more like a breath than a triumph, which left me debating what counts as closure.
