What does the final shot mean, heaven or death?
#1
I just finished watching the movie and I’m still stuck on the final shot of the protagonist walking into the light. Was that meant to be him literally ascending to heaven, or is it a metaphor for him finally accepting his own death? I can’t decide if it’s a definitive answer or just an ambiguous visual meant to be open to interpretation.

I watched that last walk and it felt like it could be both literal and metaphorical at once, a sign and a sigh in the same moment.

For me it sits in the open end zone where you decide what it means based on how you felt during the ride.

The light swells and the frame slows which makes the ending land more as acceptance than a new scene.

I kept wondering if it was a dream or a fade to color and the sound design pushes you toward ambiguity.

Do you think the director meant a clear heaven moment or a wider symbol that invites a personal read?

I tried to pin it down by checking interviews but the answers were boring and still left a space to fill.
