What helped you break a plateau with insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes?

I’ve been managing my type 2 diabetes for years, but lately my fasting numbers are creeping up even though I’m sticking to my same diet and medication. My doctor mentioned the possibility of insulin resistance getting worse, and I’m just wondering if others have hit this plateau and what changed for them.

Yeah I have been there. I tried to keep a simple log for a couple of weeks and I noticed my fasting numbers crept up even on the same meals. I started a short post dinner walk and moved the snack earlier in the evening. Not a miracle but it nudged the morning read down a bit. It felt more real to track than to guess.

Sleep has also mattered for me. At a stretch I was up late watching shows and woke with higher numbers the next day. I tried sticking to a steady alarm and a wind down routine. It did not fix everything but the trend softened for a few days.

This is the one that keeps circling in my head the phrase insulin resistance is in the conversation with my doctor and I am not sure it fits my own pattern. Could this be the real problem or is something else at play?

I did try increasing water intake and a temporary adjustment to exercise timing but the outcome was mixed and I dropped the idea after a week when I did not see a clear benefit. It feels like a moving target and I am not sure what to test next.
