What helps me stick with a book and find my reading groove again?

I’ve been trying to get into reading more, but I keep picking up books and putting them down after a chapter or two. It’s not that they’re bad, I just can’t seem to stick with anything long enough to really get into the story. Has anyone else had this happen, where you just can’t find your reading groove anymore?

Yeah, I hit a stubborn reading slump last year. Books felt wobbly after a chapter or two, like I kept chasing a groove I couldn't find. I tried sticking with 'serious' novels and kept bouncing off them. I ended up starting with short works and graphic novels, then doing 15 minute sprints with a timer. It didn't magically fix everything, but over a few weeks I started finishing more pages and felt less like I was forcing it.

I swapped to audiobooks during my commute and kept one cheap novella on the desk for when I had five minutes.

Do you think it might not be the books at all but life noise, phone alerts, sleep, chores eating into focus?

I wandered into a local library cafe and chatted briefly with a librarian about rhythm, then wandered to a shelf and picked something totally different on a whim. That small change reminded me not to chase a 'perfect' book anymore, just test what sticks, even if it means dropping it.
