What kind of doctor should i see for globus sensation?
#1
I’ve been having this strange, constant feeling like there’s a lump or something stuck in my throat, but there’s no actual obstruction when I swallow food or drink. My doctor mentioned it could be related to a condition called globus pharyngeus. It’s more noticeable when I’m stressed or just sitting quietly, and I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what kind of doctor they saw for it.

I’ve had that lump in the throat feeling too. My PCP sent me to an ENT who did a quick scope and said it could be globus pharyngeus. The sensation is worse when I’m stressed or sitting quietly, and it doesn’t seem tied to actually swallowing.

I tried to ignore it for a while, then my doctor mentioned reflux and throat tension. I did some simple throat relaxation exercises, cut back on late meals, and kept rough notes of when it flared. It faded a bit, but didn’t disappear, and I ended up seeing a gastroenterologist to check for silent reflux.

Did it ever get worse after meals?

I think sometimes it’s not a formal diagnosis at all. Maybe it’s anxiety or dry air or post nasal drip, and some days that idea feels more plausible than others. I’m still waiting on a clear answer from a specialist.
