What's causing my phone's battery drain and how can i fix it?
#1
My new phone's battery life has been really disappointing, and I'm trying to figure out if it's a hardware problem or just my usage. I've already checked the battery health in settings and turned off background refresh for most apps, but it still drains faster than my old model did.

Yeah, mine did that too on a new phone. I blamed it on background tasks, but even after closing a lot of apps the drain stayed brisk.

I ran a one day drain check and the screen-on time was around four hours with lots of standby drain; that made me suspicious it wasn’t just heavy apps.

I did a factory reset to rule out bad apps, and the drain was still there, which pushed me to think hardware or OS calibration instead of software alone.

Would turning on battery saver actually fix it or just mask the issue?

I checked per‑app power usage and found one streaming app waking the CPU at odd times; killing it helped for a while, but the drain came back later.

I lowered brightness, turned off auto refresh, and disabled higher refresh rate; the baseline stayed higher than my old model, so I kept wondering.

I even looked at the charger and charging port, thinking heat or a bad charger might be making it worse, then it still acted like the battery was dying fast once I used the phone normally.
