What should I do about a missing succession plan after my partner retires?
#1
I’m trying to figure out if I made a huge mistake by not having a formal succession plan in place before my partner decided to retire. Now I’m stuck handling all the client relationships and operational details alone, and I can see how this oversight is creating real vulnerability for the business.

I hear you I tried to stay calm after they retired and took notes on who handles which client I put together a simple shared sheet and kept it moving even on heavy days it helped not to fall behind entirely

I did a quick map of the client roster and what each person actually owns we kept it short and just used a live doc and a couple of weekly touch points and it made the chaos feel a little more manageable do you think that kind of simple map could help long term?

Maybe the real issue is not the plan but the fear of losing trust with clients if the succession is not smooth and the handoff feels abrupt

I also found myself thinking about the office calendar and tiny admin tasks that keep pulling me away from talking to clients and it felt like there is a bigger mismatch between what we say we want and what we actually do
