What should i do about gog galaxy slow syncing with steam and epic?
#1
I’m trying to decide if I should keep using GOG Galaxy to manage all my different game libraries. It’s great having everything in one place, but lately it feels like the sync for my Steam and Epic games is slower than just opening the separate launchers.

I’ve been using GOG Galaxy to keep everything in one place, and it is convenient. But the Steam and Epic sync feels slow once you have a sizeable library. It shows the games, but launching from there sometimes lags behind opening the native launcher. I keep hoping the background sync will finish faster, but not always.

I did try turning off automatic background refresh and switched to on-demand scanning. It did feel faster when I actually clicked to launch, not watching the sync wheel. Still, a handful of games wouldn’t show up or would say not installed until I restarted Galaxy. It’s a trade off.

Could it be your network or disk I/O rather than the launcher? If your PC is paging a lot or your drive is slow, the sync could be waiting on the hardware and not the app.

Sometimes I drift into thinking maybe the real issue is chasing a single library instead of using the separate launchers. I kept Galaxy for catalog convenience and quick launches, but I still reach for Steam or Epic when I want speed. Not a clean answer, though.
