What should i do if my thread title gets removed for not being specific enough?

I’m trying to figure out if the current forum rules around thread titles are too restrictive. I just had a post removed because my title was deemed “not specific enough,” but I feel like the rule stifles casual conversation. Where’s the line between keeping things organized and letting a natural discussion flow?

Yeah I get the tension. Rules keep things tidy for new folks, but sometimes a broad opener invites chaos. I’ve had posts marked as generic and it felt odd for something meant to be casual.

I tried tightening my own thread title once. Reworded it to a specific activity and a rough goal. Response rate jumped, but then some folks missed the vibe and it felt stiff again.

Maybe the real problem isn’t the wording so much as how moderators apply it. If the bar for specificity is too high, casual chat can get tripped up before it starts. Do you think the issue is the rule or the way it’s enforced?

Sometimes I drift into thoughts about building blocks of discussion, like topics that always get bumped. Then I remember this forum is about people, not checklists. A clearer rubric might help without choking the vibe.
