What should I do with new crafting costs after the patch: upgrade or save?

I just saw the patch notes for the new season and the changes to the crafting system seem really confusing. I’m trying to figure out if the new material costs for upgrading my gear are actually worth the stat increase, or if I should just save my resources.

Hopped into upgrades after reading the patch notes. The mats are tight but the stat bump was noticeable on mid tier gear. It felt like a meaningful lift in my runs, maybe a few percent in the main stat. If you’re sitting on a mat stockpile it might be worth upgrading one piece or two, otherwise save your resources for the next season.

Maybe the real problem isn’t the numbers, but how these mats gate the path. Am I chasing the wrong problem here?

Tried one upgrade. It cost a chunk of mats and the bump in DPS felt small in practice.

I keep thinking about the crafting cadence, how long it takes to farm mats, then I end up doing a quick dungeon anyway to see if it changes anything.
