What should I look for in a ranked play group that actually helps me improve?

I’m trying to find a decent group for ranked play, but every time I join a clan it feels like I’m just a warm body for their weekly participation quota. I want to actually improve and coordinate, not just fill a slot.

Yeah I feel that. I joined a clan and it turned into a weekly quota thing rather than a team. They pinged for participation but never asked about goals or how we wanted to improve. After a while I started looking for something smaller and more purpose driven.

I did try a few moves, like asking for a probation period and a few drills to lock in roles and comms, and I kept a tiny log of what felt better in scrims. Sometimes it happened, mostly it didn’t, and I kept drifting between groups.

Maybe the issue isn’t the clan at all but how we measure improvement in ranked play. I tried focusing on personal micro-goals and watching replays, but the team cadence still derailed things.

I once wandered into a group where they kicked off with a relaxed warmup and some casual talk before scrims. It felt real for a night, but the longer-term commitment never stuck. Still, it reminded me what a small, human thing looks like.
