What should I pick: PS5 version or PS4 BC version for a steadier frame rate?

I just got a PS5 and I'm trying to decide which version of a game to buy, but I'm getting hung up on the frame rate. The PS4 version runs at a locked 60fps through backwards compatibility, but the native PS5 release has better textures and ray tracing, even if the performance is less stable. I don't know if the visual upgrade is worth the occasional stutter.

I went with the native PS5 version for the wow factor. Textures do look crisper and the lighting is nicer, especially in close-ups. The occasional stutter in big explosions or busy scenes isn’t constant, but it’s noticeable enough to pull me out of immersion sometimes. Still, I don’t regret it overall.

I stuck with the PS4 version through backward compatibility. It stays smooth most of the time and the 60fps feel is real and predictable, which matters in action moments. The visuals are a step down, but I can focus on the gameplay and not chase the latest shine.

I’ve seen patch notes talk about stability, and I’m not sure when they’ll land. I tried comparing both side by side and the stutter is there in the PS5 build enough to bother me during fast grabs. I’d be tempted to skip the upgrade until a patch settles it.

Maybe the problem isn’t the frame pacing at all. It could be load times, controller latency, or how the game handles big crowd scenes. I keep thinking that if you care about the visuals you may be chasing a ghost; the core game might not care as much.
