What should I post to introduce myself in a new city forum?

I just moved to a new city and joined this forum hoping to meet people, but I'm honestly not sure how to start. What do you usually share when introducing yourself online? I don't want to write a novel, but just saying "hi" feels like it might not be enough to get a real conversation going.

Hey I am Eli just moved here too I keep the intro simple just name where I came from and one thing I am into lately like coffee hopping or a weekend hike It sometimes ends with a small question about local spots to meet people to spark a reply

I tried a longer note once saying I am into climbing and I am looking for a hiking buddy It felt heavy for a forum intro and I trimmed it down to the move and a hobby Still not sure if that helped

I have a hunch the vibe of the thread matters more than the exact words I posted a plain hello and got zero replies Then someone else made a goofy thread and conversations sprang up It makes me wonder if the real problem is the channel not the intro

I did a minimal hi and waited then reached out to a few nearby people for a coffee Not dramatic but I did meet one person later If you want a question here it is what kind of meetups would you actually go to in this city?
