What true crime podcasts avoid rehashing famous cases and feel investigative?

I’ve been trying to find a good true crime podcast that doesn’t just rehash the same famous cases everyone already knows, but I keep hitting dead ends. I want something that feels like a deep, respectful investigation, not just sensational storytelling.

Bear Brook was what I landed on first. I started last month, listened to three episodes, and it felt slow, methodical, more about evidence and the people than a big reveal.

Someone Knows Something has that patient, almost glacial pace, you hear the blank spaces in the story and the investigator's doubt.

Up and Vanished Season 1 had traction for me, but it leaned into cliffhangers after a while; still it wasn’t just hype, more like chasing a real rabbit hole.

In the Dark seasons 1 and 2 hit the investigative tone pretty well, lots of document hunting, court records, not just talking heads.

Are you after something that sticks to court records and expert interviews, or something that follows people knocking on doors?
