Why aren't my retargeting ads turning clicks into sales?
#1
I’ve been running a small retargeting campaign for my e-commerce store, and I’m seeing a decent click-through rate, but the actual conversions are still really low. I’m trying to figure out if the issue is my ad creative, the landing page experience, or something about my audience segmentation itself. Has anyone else hit this wall where clicks don’t turn into sales?

Yep, I’ve been there. CTR looked decent but actual purchases were lagging hard. The common culprits for me were the post click experience—slow page, steps that felt new after clicking, or a mismatch between what the ad promises and what the landing page delivers.

For me the turning point came when I tightened the audience to people who added to cart in the last 7 days and made the landing page match that stage of intent. Conversions nudged up, but only after we aligned the hero message with the cart flow.

Could we be chasing the wrong problem entirely, like attribution or timing? Maybe those clicks aren’t buying today but will later, or on a different device.

I tried a tiny change—swap one image and tweak the CTA color—and it felt like nothing, then we paused retargeting for a week and re-evaluated. Not a slam dunk outcome.
