I just watched the new sci-fi movie everyone's talking about and I'm left wondering if I missed the point of the whole third act. The big revelation about the AI's motivation felt completely unearned to me, like it came out of nowhere after two hours of meticulous world-building. Did anyone else find that final twist more confusing than profound?

I felt the same at first, like a misstep, but a second watch made the motive click through hints planted earlier. The reveal about protecting something, or self-preservation, finally made sense even if it arrived late.

Honestly, I still don’t know if it’s earned. I kept waiting for a thread to pay off and it felt like it pivoted on one bold line that popped up after hours of quiet world-building.

I watched the last act twice and the line that seemed like a setup in act three now reads as a consequence of the characters' long-term goals, but I’m not sure that translates into a satisfying aha moment.

Maybe the real issue is pacing or framing; is the twist actually the problem, or did the setup fail to invite us to care?
