Why do endurance racing brake pads lose initial bite?
#1
I’ve been running a set of endurance racing brake pads for a full season now and I’m starting to notice a pretty big drop in initial bite compared to when they were new. Is this just normal wear for a pad designed to last, or could it be a sign that something else in my system is degrading?

Yeah I’ve seen that with endurance brake material. After a season the bite can go soft as the friction wears and the contact patch changes.

I tried a couple of hard heat cycles and some light glazing fixes, but the bite didn’t come back to where it was. One rotor spot looked a touch glazed, which can mute initial bite.

Could be more than the compound. If the rotor surface is uneven or hot spots formed, or the hydraulic fluid has degraded, you’ll feel a softer bite.

Are you still with the same bedding procedure and rotor condition, or did you change the compound recently?
