Why do friends only reply with emojis in group chats?
#1
I’ve noticed that a few people in a group chat I’m in will only ever respond to my messages with a single emoji, like a thumbs up or a check mark. It makes me feel like they’re just brushing me off, even though they might not mean it that way. I’m starting to hesitate before sending anything because I don’t want to just get that kind of minimal reply.

I get that. In our group, a lot of people default to a quick thumbs up and move on. It used to make me feel like what I said didn’t matter.

I tested this by sending longer messages on a topic I care about, and still got just a single emoji back. So I stopped pushing those topics in the chat and waited for a clearer sign they care.

I started pinging a person privately to check if they even read the post, or if the chat isn’t the right place for that kind convo. Sometimes it helps a little.

Do you think the real problem is the chat vibe more than your words, like people aren’t used to longer messages here?
