Why do I get ignored in group chats after asking a direct question?
#1
I’ve noticed that when I’m in a group chat, one person will often reply to everyone but completely ignore my last message, even if it was a direct question. It makes me wonder if I’m somehow creating a subtle social friction that makes them avoid engaging with me specifically.

Yeah I’ve wondered about that too. In our group, someone will reply to everyone but skip my last message. At first I blamed myself, but then I noticed they often jump on other threads and my question seems to drift away with the noise. It felt more like timing or who’s online than something deliberate about me.

I tried changing how I asked. I tagged them, kept it short, and even sent a quick DM after the chat. Sometimes I got a real answer later, but not consistently.

Maybe the real issue isn’t you at all. It could be that the question wasn’t relevant to the rest, or the thread was moving so fast yours got buried?

Sometimes I drifted off chatting about other stuff and came back to a hundred new messages; I think people tune out if the thread feels noisy. Still, it’s frustrating.
