Why do I still have sleep disturbances on SSRI after six months?
#1
I’ve been taking a low-dose SSRI for about six months now, and I’ve noticed my sleep has gotten a lot lighter and more fragmented. I wake up feeling like I barely slept, even when I get a full eight hours. Has anyone else experienced this kind of persistent sleep disturbance from their medication?

Yep, I know the feeling. I was on a low dose of an SSRI and my sleep got light and fragmented for months. I’d fall asleep but wake at 2 or 3 a.m., feel like I barely slept even after eight hours. It lasted longer than I expected.

It was weird to connect it to the meds, because nothing else changed. Part of me thinks it’s the drug changing sleep architecture, but I’m not sure.

I tried keeping a simple sleep diary, noting when I woke up, caffeine, screen time, and workouts. It didn’t fix it, but it helped me notice patterns. I talked to my doctor about it and we considered timing and dose, but results were mixed and it’s still ongoing.

Not sure this is the real problem, but have you noticed any other symptoms at night like restlessness or vivid dreaming?
