Why do the new electric buses feel so quiet compared to gas buses?
#1
I just had my first ride on one of the new electric buses downtown, and honestly, I'm a bit torn. The acceleration was incredibly smooth and quiet, which was nice, but the ride felt almost too quiet—I missed the familiar rumble that lets you know when to pull the cord. Has anyone else felt a bit disoriented by the change?

Yeah, I felt the same after my first ride. The silence is eerie when you're used to that bus rattle and engine noise; I kept waiting for the old rumble and the telltale sense of motion.

It's incredibly smooth, which is nice, but the lack of bite makes the whole thing feel oddly fragile. I kept glancing at the dashboard to confirm we were moving.

I rode a similar route yesterday and the stop signal felt quieter too. I tapped the button twice just to be sure the system registered my request.

Not sure if the problem is the bus or our habit of listening for a cue. Do you think it's really about the sound or the cues you expect?
