Why does DirectX crash to desktop after about 20 minutes of play?

I’m getting a consistent DirectX error that crashes me to desktop about 20 minutes into any play session. I’ve updated my GPU drivers and verified the game files, but it keeps happening.

I've had that exact thing. After about 20 minutes the game would crash and the screen would go black. I kept an eye on temps, actually dropped my overclock a notch, and ran a quick stability test. It bought me several extra sessions but did not feel like a cure.

If it is a DirectX crash, try reinstalling the DirectX components and turning off any overlays that could be injecting into the game like GeForce Experience or Discord. That helped me once when the game started crashing randomly.

Check Windows Event Viewer around the time of the crash. Sometimes there is a driver fault or a hardware issue code that points you in a real direction instead of guessing.

Do you see any error code when it crashes or does it just vanish to the desktop? Also consider running with a minimal setup to test but that can take a while.
