Why does my Honda Civic brake pedal go to the floor even with full fluid?

My 2015 Civic’s brake pedal has started feeling soft and goes almost to the floor before the car really starts to slow down. I checked the fluid level in the master cylinder and it’s still full, so I’m not sure where to look next for a leak or if something else is causing this spongy feeling.

I had a Civic with a soft pedal like that. Fluid level was fine, but the pedal sank to the floor and the brakes barely bit until I pumped it. Turned out the brake booster hose had a slow crack. Replaced it and the pedal feel came back.

Another time it wasn’t a leak. A sticking caliper and a warped rotor made the pedal feel soft when I pressed it. Replacing the caliper and resurfacing the rotor fixed it, but I still knew something was off until I did that.

I’d peek at the hard lines and the master cylinder seals too. A tiny internal leak or air getting in can make it feel spongy even when the reservoir stays full.

I know the feeling, chasing the booster ABS stuff one weekend only to realize it could be a tiny leak somewhere or air in the lines. It’s not obvious and you end up circling back to the same soft pedal question.
