Why does my sleep tracker show lots of deep sleep but I still feel tired?

I’ve been tracking my sleep stages for months and consistently get over an hour of deep sleep most nights, but I still wake up feeling completely drained. I don’t feel that restorative quality at all. Has anyone else found a big disconnect between what their tracker says and how they actually feel in the morning?

Yeah me too. The tracker stacks a lot of deep sleep, but I wake up feeling foggy and unrefreshed. I started tracking not just stages but what I did before bed and how I woke up, and I still live with that mismatch. A cooler room, consistent wind down, and no caffeine after lunch helped a little, but not the grogginess.

I’ve noticed the numbers feel noisy. Some mornings I’ll get a big chunk labeled deep sleep and I still feel wrecked, other times tiny deep sleep but decent energy. I’m starting to doubt the metric more than the feeling.

Could the real issue be sleep inertia or waking up during a deep phase? I sometimes feel awful for an hour even if the day log says plenty of deep sleep, and I’m not sure if the problem is the stage data or just waking at the wrong moment.

I tried cutting caffeine and sticking to a fixed bed time for weeks, but the morning drain stuck around. One small change I did keep was having a glass of water on my nightstand; it helps a tiny bit, but it doesn’t fix the big picture.
