Why does my wireless mouse stutter despite being charged and near the receiver?

My new wireless mouse keeps stuttering every few minutes, even though it’s fully charged and only a foot from the receiver. I’ve tried different USB ports for the dongle, but the intermittent lag is really frustrating when I’m working.

That stuttering is a real pain. I had a similar issue last month. Even with fresh batteries, the cursor would freeze every few minutes and I felt stuck.

I swapped the USB port, then tried a short USB extension to move the dongle away from the monitor and other gear. It did reduce the jitter for a day or two but it came back.

Maybe the real problem isn’t the mouse at all. I wondered if my surface or the desk mat was fooling the sensor, or if the PC was throttling USB power.

Could you test it on another computer to see if the issue follows the device?
