Why is my gaming pc dropping from the mesh wifi while my phone stays connected?

My new mesh system keeps dropping the connection to my gaming PC, even though my phone stays connected just fine. I’ve tried moving the satellite node closer, but the PC still gets these random latency spikes that ruin online matches.

I’ve got a similar mesh setup and the gaming PC sometimes spiked with latency while my phone stayed solid. I started thinking maybe the NIC or the PC power settings are the hidden gremlins—drivers updated, power saving on the adapter reduced—and it seemed to loosen the spikes a bit, but then it would come back.

I tried a quick test by plugging the PC straight into the router with an Ethernet cable and watching what happened. It didn’t spit out as many spikes, which made me think the wireless backhaul could be the weak link.

The other angle is interference or channel contention. The phone stays fine, but gaming traffic can suffer if the mesh is juggling a lot of clients on the same bands. I tinkered with keeping the PC on a different band when I could, and it helped a touch, not a fix.

One thing I’m unsure about is whether the real issue is the game server or the ISP peering, not your mesh at all. Have you tried a wired test to rule out the wireless chunk?
