Why is my HP printer dropping wireless connection after a Windows update?
#1
I’ve been trying to get my old HP printer to work wirelessly with my new Windows 11 laptop, but the connection keeps dropping every few minutes. I ran the printer troubleshooter from the settings menu, but it didn’t resolve the intermittent disconnects. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of unstable wireless printing after a Windows update?

Yeah, I ran into this with an old HP printer and Windows 11. It would drop every few minutes. I rebooted the router, moved the printer closer, and forced the network onto 2.4 GHz, but the drops kept happening. I ended up printing over USB while I figured it out.

I found the HP Smart app can be flaky. I removed it, reinstalled the printer driver, and turned off auto updates, and the connection seemed steadier for a day or two—then it started again.

Could be the wifi channel or interference. I assumed it was Windows, but my laptop also kept disconnecting from other devices at similar times. It felt like the network issue more than the printer, but I never nailed it.

Did you try a quick test via USB to see if the printer still prints without dropping?
