Why is my search history focusing on extreme weather and disaster prep?

I’ve noticed my search history has become almost entirely about extreme weather events and disaster preparedness lately. It’s making me wonder if this shift in what I’m looking up is just my own anxiety, or if it reflects a broader, shared concern people are feeling right now.

I've noticed the same shift. One week it's drought stats, the next it's flood risk maps, and now disaster kits. Feels like the whole feed is leaning toward urgent alerts, not everyday updates.

Could be anxiety whispering through the algorithm, or it could be the culture of now where constant notices prime you for action. It helps to notice what headlines linger.

I started a little counter: how many weather items I open in a day, and I noticed it peaks after the evening news block. I set a timer to cap it at 20 minutes and sleep improved a bit.

Maybe the real problem isn't the weather stuff at all but a sense of helplessness. I drift to other topics trying to feel in control somewhere else. Do you think the real problem is what you can do about it, not the weather?
