Why is my wireless gaming mouse lagging due to USB 3.0 interference?
#1
I’ve been trying to get my new wireless gaming mouse to feel as responsive as my old wired one, but I can’t seem to shake a tiny bit of lag in fast-paced shooters. I’ve made sure the receiver is close and my battery is charged, but I’m wondering if something about my other USB 3.0 devices could be causing interference.

I've been there. I moved the wireless dongle to a USB 2.0 port on the back and pulled some extra USB devices away from it. After a day the tiny lag in fast turns felt less twitchy, though it wasn’t gone. It was enough that it seemed more predictable in close combat, but I didn't call it solved.

I ran a quick test with a USB extension to park the dongle a few inches from the rest of the hubs. I also turned off USB selective suspend and checked the polling rate in the mouse software. No dramatic miracle, but a touch steadier during skirmishes.

Could the real problem be interference rather than the mouse itself?

Honestly I tried blaming my setup, but sometimes it felt like the game was buffering or the monitor input lag, not the mouse. Hard to pin down and I kept bouncing between fixes.
