Expanding growth strategies in 2024 for small businesses in NYC
#1
I've already blown through most of my growth budget on stuff that didn't work. Spent about $8k on Facebook ads that got me a bunch of clicks but maybe two actual sales. Another $3k on a website redesign that looks nice but hasn't changed conversion rates at all. So now I'm sitting here with maybe $4k left to actually grow my business this quarter and I need to make it count. My margins are thin, I'm a one-person operation running a specialty outdoor gear brand, and I can't afford another swing and a miss.

The question is whether that remaining budget should go into SEO content or local partnerships with gear shops. SEO is slow and I've read you need like six months to see anything, which feels like a gamble when I'm low on cash. Local partnerships could get me in front of actual customers faster but I'd have to split margins and that cuts into what little profit I have. I've already tried the cheap stuff like posting on social media organically and that got me nowhere. Has anyone in a similar spot picked one of these paths with that kind of limited budget and actually seen a return inside three months? I need something that works now, not a year from now.

It sounds like you've seen a lot of spending with little return. Invest in local partnerships—get gear shops promoting you. Direct sales are your best shot right now, not something that will take time like SEO.
