Helpful aspects of joining a beginner photography club for hands-on learning in one
#1
I’m a complete beginner when it comes to photography, and after months of taking blurry shots of my cat and getting frustrated with auto mode, I’ve finally decided to stop guessing and actually learn. That’s why I’ve been looking into joining a local photography club for beginners, hoping to find some hands-on guidance and maybe a few people who are just as clueless as I am.

I tried one online course from Skillshare that cost about $15, but it was mostly theory and didn’t help me with the real-world stuff like composing in bad light or dealing with my shaky hands. I also attempted a meetup group, but it turned out to be all landscape pros who talked about f-stops like it was a second language—or maybe I just misread the description. A friend loaned me a used Nikon D3500, so I’m not ready to drop cash on gear yet, but I’m finding the manual mode more intimidating than I expected.

For anyone who joined a beginner-friendly club or group, what was the single most helpful thing you got out of it—was it the workshops, the peer feedback, or just having a regular time to shoot and ask dumb questions?
