How can I blend Skyrim mod textures with vanilla mountains without issues?
#1
I finally got the Skyrim mod that adds a whole new region to explore, but the new landscape textures are a complete mismatch for the vanilla mountains. It’s creating this awful, sharp line in the distance where the two meet, and I can’t figure out how to blend them properly without breaking something else.

Yeah I ran into that recently. The new region's textures clash with vanilla mountains and you get that hard seam when you look off in the distance. I tried a couple of different texture packs that claim to blend with vanilla, but nothing lined up perfectly and the line still showed up.

I checked load order after reading about overrides. I ran LOOT, switched a terrain mod earlier in the load order, and still saw the seam. It seems like the region is literally swapping in a tile at a range where the vanilla tiling ends.

Gave it a go by matching tiling scales myself. I opened the files, counted the repeats, and tried to mirror the vanilla tiling on the mod's image. It helped a hair, but the line is stubborn and shifts with angle and distance.

Could it be the real problem isn't the visuals but how the terrain is generated at distance or how the lighting hits the edge? I started drifting into that thought after a day of chasing the seam, but I can't pin it down yet.
