How can I charge my ev when visiting my parents with only a standard outlet?

I just got my first EV and I'm trying to figure out how to handle charging when I visit my parents, who live about 180 miles away. Their house only has a standard outdoor outlet, so I'm worried a full charge from nearly empty would take over two days on that slow trickle.

That 120 volt outlet is the bottleneck. I did a similar 180 mile run once and charging at a regular outdoor outlet felt like a full day of waiting. It really changes how you plan the visit.

On a similar trip I stopped at a public Level 2 charger along the way and then rolled into their place with enough to spare. It still eats time, but at least you’re not staring at a wall socket all afternoon for the EV.

Think you could add a proper 240V outlet while you’re visiting, or borrow a portable charger?

Sometimes I drift into worrying about battery size, but the real move was simply planning a longer stay or splitting the trip with a halfway stop. It’s a mess and feels uncertain.
