How can i deal with a distracting head-up display while driving?

I just got a new car with a fancy head-up display, and I’m finding the constant speed limit sign popping up in my field of view incredibly distracting. Has anyone else felt like this projection makes you focus more on the display than the actual road?

Yep mine does the same. I lowered the HUD brightness and moved the speed limit box toward the edge of the windshield. It helps a bit, but I still catch my eye drifting to it.

I tried turning off the speed limit pop up in the HUD settings, then I realized I miss it on unfamiliar roads. Now I leave it on but duller.

Sometimes I forget I am staring at it and snap back to the road. Not great when the car handles well, but the sign ping just pulls me in.

Maybe the issue is not the sign at all but the habit of scanning the screen all the time. The sign is just a loud nudge.

At night I turn the HUD down to a dim mode and tilt it lower. Road feel comes back and the signs are less in your line of vision.

I tried a quick tweak dim the brightness move the box and give myself a one second glance rule. It helped until I got used to ignoring it.

If you really hate it someone I know turned off the HUD in highway mode and keeps eyes on the road. I have not tried it.
